The real risk, of course, is that those who voted for him in 2008 will stay home in droves in 2012, not out of any desire for Sarah McBatshit to be president, but because they feel—rightfully—betrayed.
I think ol’ Barry can expect a challenge from the left, but the structural advantages of his incumbency should swat that idealistic fly. But come the general election, all the excitement which put him in office will have been bled off by his constant whoring of himself to the big money interests he pretended to oppose. If he wins in 2012, it will be because Sarah is just too damn nuts, not because he deserves it.
